Importance of Entrance Exams

This is the most simplest topic in the website.

In India, admission to various medical and engineering colleges is done through entrance exams. With the coming of NEET (as of August 2016), even management and NRI seats come under NEET.

So, to get out as a doctor in India, you should clear your entrance exams. It doesnt mean just getting the passing marks, but to come ahead in the race of nearly 10 lakh students eyeing for a seat in a top medical college.

The same applies to engineering as well.

Does getting into good Colleges matter?

Imagine this situation, you are the head of an interview board to select candidates for the post of senior engineer in a company. You find two eligible candidates who have done fairly well in the interviews but you have only one spot available. You check the colleges from which they have passed out from. One is from an IIT and another is from an unheard college. You already frame a picture in mind suggesting that the first guy seems to be more smart,

because he cleared the entrances for IIT- which is one of the toughest to crack in India and he should have much more experience and knowledge since he studied under amazing professors.

The same story applies to medical as well.

Getting out of a prestigious college is good as it shows that you are smarter than the rest. Also, a good college offers better teachers, facilities and experiences.

Will a doctor serving in a well known hospital with a lot of patients or a doctor serving in a hospital with scarcity of patients, be said to have more experience? Yes, you are right, the first doctor has more experience.

So, to get into better and good colleges in India, you need to clear entrance exams with good ranks.
